By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant (Sanitary Corps) Robert S. McKenzie, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. Lieutenant McKenzie as Medical Supply Officer of the 3d Division rendered exceptionally meritorious service during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Without thought of personal safety, he made frequent visits to the Battalion Aid Stations with supplies, and salvaged medical property as it was abandoned by different units, thus insuring an adequate supply for all emergencies.
