After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, Emett Cassady transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. His brother George S. Cassady retired as an Air Force Brigadier General in 1961, and Emmitt Cassady retired in 1965 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Arthur W. Forbes, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Commander of the Embarkation area of the Port of Liverpool, General Forbes gave important assistance to the American Expeditionary Forces. At all times he exhibited a spirit of zealous cooperation with the American authorities, placing all the facilities of his important office at their disposal. He rendered service of conspicuous worth to the American Expeditionary Forces.
