By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Wagoner Ira Irwin Uhrich (ASN: 1259127), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Wagoner Uhrich distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 103d Ammunition Train, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Fismes, France, during the night of 8 – 9 August 1918, as a member of a detachment which delivered two truck loads of ammunition urgently needed by our troops in that town, then under high explosive shell fire and heavy gas, and returning with wounded men under heavy enemy fire.
