By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Jack Dodson (ASN: 148928), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Dodson distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery F, 43d Regiment, Coast Artillery Corps, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Reighneville, France, 1 November 1918. The battery of his organization being under severe shell fire, Corporal Dodson volunteered with others to move an ammunition car out of danger and with Lieutenant Victor R. Burton, from an exposed position, directed the unloading and movement of the ammunition. Corporal Dodson showed a contempt for danger, under very trying conditions, which is deserving of the highest praise.
