By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Second Lieutenant (Coast Artillery Corps) Arthur J. Gronna, United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Second Lieutenant (Coast Artillery Corps) Gronna distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery F, 43d Regiment, Coast Artillery Corps, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Reighneville, France, 1 November 1918. The battery aiming post having been destroyed, Lieutenant Gronna, with Lieutenant Victor R. Burton, volunteered and under severe artillery fire, with total disregard of personal safety, located a new aiming post.
