By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private William G. Hunter (ASN: 262047), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Hunter distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 128th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action during the Meuse Argonne Offensive, France, 14 October 1918. When two machine guns were firing on his company, Private Hunter went out in advance of the company and drew the fire of one of the guns, thereby enabling his company to locate and capture them.
