By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Glenn H. Stephens (ASN: 48041), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Stephens distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, France, 4 – 11 October 1918. With utter disregard for his own personal safety, Sergeant Stephens repeatedly went out in the face of heavy machine gun and artillery fire and administered first aid to the wounded and carried them back to a place of safety.
