By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Second Lieutenant (Infantry) William E. Frasure, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 3d Supply Train, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Lieutenant Frasure rendered distinguished services near Cunel, France, 14 October 1918, while acting as an Infantry officer in the 30th Infantry Regiment. After all other officers of his company had been killed or wounded, Lieutenant Frasure, although himself wounded, assumed command of the company and led them in the advance, taking 164 prisoners. On 15 October 1918, he was again wounded while cleaning up woods east of Cunel, but disregarding the pain he remained to command his company until he was relieved.
