Ahern (ASN: 263428), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Ahern distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 125th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Chateau-Thierry, France, 31 July 1918, in carrying messages under heavy enemy fire.
