By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Alfred M. E. Meyerowitz (ASN: 136606), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Meyerowitz distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery C, 103d Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Sonnaneaux, France, 3 November 1918, while repairing telephone lines during enemy bombardment. In the performance of this act he was severely wounded in the right arm.
