By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class John H. Larson (ASN: 127716), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Larson distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery D, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Missy au Bois, France, 19 July 1918. After all members of a gun crew had become casualties, Private Larson left his section and went to the piece and alone conducted its fire.
