Clinton (ASN: 2846), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Clinton distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 102d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action in the Bois d’Ormont, north of Verdun, France, 23 October 1918, while attending to the wounded during a heavy enemy bombardment.
