By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Captain (Dental Corps) Daniel Bratton, United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Captain Bratton distinguished himself by gallantry in action near Bois de Consenvoye, Brabant, France, 20 – 25 October 1918, Having found a battalion first-aid station without medical officers, due to casualties, he voluntarily took charge and upon several occasions went out in the face of severe enemy artillery and machine gun fire and brought back badly wounded men.
