Hawn (ASN: 1248077), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Hawn distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Bois du Bel Orme, west of Varennes, France, 27 September 1918, in volunteering to go, and going, to the rescue of wounded men in an advance outpost.
