The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major Gerald J. P. Geiger, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Liaison Officer of the British with the American Army, and later as Chief of the British Mission at the Headquarters of the 3d Army, Major Geiger has, by his tact, loyalty, and painstaking efforts, earnestly cooperated with the American authorities in handling the difficult problems which constantly arose, rendering services of great worth to the American Expeditionary Forces.
