The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel of Engineers Gustave A. Ferrie, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. Colonel Ferrie rendered the American Expeditionary Forces services of exceptional value in his capacity as Technical Director to the Military Wireless. Without his counsel and unremitting devotion to our interests, it would have been exceedingly difficult to have equipped our forces with the indispensable radio apparatus which he placed so freely at our disposal.
