The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Quartermaster Corps) Daniel G. Stivers, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Quartermaster of the 3d Division during the Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne offensives, in maintaining an excellent system of quartermaster supplies and utilities under the greatest difficulties of active service, Lieutenant Colonel Stivers’ superb efforts contributed in a marked degree to the success of this division throughout its operations.
