    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Cavalry) John George Quekemeyer, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Chief of the American Mission at British General Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Quekemeyer administered the duties of the office with tact and ability, promoting cordial relations between members of the Allied Armies with whom he came in contact. As aide-de-camp to the Commander in Chief, he has performed his important duties with marked distinction and sound judgment.
