    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) Xenophon Herbert Price, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Lieutenant Colonel Price organized and was continuously in charge of all map room data of the 3d Section, General Staff, at General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces. Through his energy, ability, and sound military judgment, maps showing accurately the situation on the battle fronts were constantly available for outlying projected operations, and the data compiled by him is of incalculable historical value in preserving a record of the achievements of the American Expeditionary Forces.
