The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) Clark Lynn, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 91st Division, from July 1918 to April 1919, by his high professional attainments and marked ability Lieutenant Colonel Lynn rendered valuable assistance in the staff work during the St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Ypres-Lys offensives, his efficiency contributing materially to the success of his Division in these operations.

The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Lynn, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
