    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Field Artillery) Morris E. Locke, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel Logan Commanded, with marked skill and initiative, the 102d Field Artillery, 26th Division, during the Chateau-Thierry campaign, where at all times he furnished valuable support to the advancing infantry. Later he served creditably as an instructor at the Army General Staff College at Langres, France, rendering important services to the American Expeditionary Forces.
