No. 43, W.D., 1918), Colonel (Field Artillery) Charles Rees Lloyd, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Colonel Lloyd distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Commanding Officer, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Montfaucon, France, 29 September 1918, while making a reconnaissance under shell fire.

Lloyd, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel Lloyd Commanded with distinction the 10th Field Artillery, displaying marked ability as an artillerist. His unflagging zeal and sound judgment was revealed by the success achieved by his regiment in furthering the gains achieved by the 3d Division in its operations in the field.
