The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Quartermaster Corps) Frank H. Lawton, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Chief, Quartermaster Division, G-4, Paris Group, during the critical days in the summer of 1918, by his initiative, tireless energy, and marked ability Colonel Lawton handled many difficult problems of supply and evacuation in a highly satisfactory manner, thereby contributing materially to the successes of the Division in that sector.
