The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Charles R. Krauthoff, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. General Krauthoff’s energy and thorough knowledge of methods and standards of supply have been of exceptional value, particularly in directing European purchases for the Quartermaster Corps and in the difficult and complex transactions attending the payments to allied and other foreign creditors of the American Government.
