    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Judge Advocate General’s Department) Gordon N. Kimball, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Chief of the Rents, Requisitions, and Claims Service, Advance Section, Services of Supply, from November 1918 to July 1919, Lieutenant Colonel Kimball with exceptionally sound judgment, breadth of vision, and marked initiative organized and administered a work of great responsibility and magnitude.
