The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Coast Artillery Corps) Wesley W. K. Hamilton, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Adjutant, Base Section No. 3, in 1917 – 1918, in the initial development, extension, and administration of those headquarters through whose agency vast supplies and over a million troops were forwarded to France, Colonel Hamilton rendered a service of great value.
