The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Quartermaster Corps) Frank M. Gunby, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I, as Officer in Charge of the Engineering Branch of the Construction Division of the Army. The success of the engineering features of the Army building program is in large measure due to Colonel Gunby’s genius for organization, his ability to judge men and inspire in them a determination to succeed. The services he rendered are of signal worth.
