The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Adjutant General’s Corps) Lloyd C. Griscom, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Lieutenant Colonel Griscom served with marked ability as Adjutant of the 77th Division during the early days of its organization and training. As special representative of the Commander in Chief with the Minister of War of Great Britain, he fulfilled with great distinction and credit the duties of an office requiring ability, tact, and address.
