    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Infantry) Berkeley Enochs, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Chief of Staff, 39th Division, from August 1917 until August 1918, by his marked efficiency, loyal devotion to duty, and high military attainments, Colonel Enochs played an important part in the successful organization and training of that division. Later, as Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 4th Army Corps, From September 1918 until April 1919, he performed many duties of great responsibility in a highly meritorious manner, rendering services of signal worth to the American Expeditionary Forces.
