The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) Eley Parker Denson, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I, as Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 28th Division, from 15 September to 15 November 1918. In this position Lieutenant Colonel Denson displayed untiring energy, sound professional judgment and tactical skill, and unremitting attention to duty, thus contributing extremely valuable services to the 28th Division in its operations against the enemy.
