The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Ordnance Corps) Joseph J. Daly, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I, as Division Ordnance Officer, 27th Division, a position of great responsibility, involving many difficulties of supply and administration. With marked ability Lieutenant Colonel Daly adapted the American supply system to that used by the British units with which his division operated. He accomplished a great task and rendered services of eminent worth.
