    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Medical Corps) Christopher C. Collins, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Corps Surgeon, 2d Army Corps, from February 1918 to February 1919, Colonel Collins displayed professional attainments of a high order in the training of the organization of the corps for subsequent operations. During the active operations the efficiency of his organization and arrangements for the care of the sick and wounded and their evacuation contributed in high degree to the success of the operations of the corps.
