The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Cavalry) Charles Burnett, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As G-3 of the 30th Division during its operations in Belgium and northern France, subsequent to the armistice, Colonel Burnett functioned as Chief of Staff at Base Section No. 1 in a most creditable manner. He has rendered services of much value to the United States.
