The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Commander Evangeline C. Booth, Salvation Army, a United States Civilian, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Commander Booth has been tireless in her devotion to manifold duties. The contribution of the Salvation Army toward winning the war is conspicuous and the results obtained were due in marked degree to the great executive ability of its commander.
