The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Medical Corps) Henry Beeuwkes, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Lieutenant Colonel Beeuwkes rendered especially valuable services as Inspector of Hospitalization of Troops in the field. By tireless energy in the performance of his duties he assisted greatly in raising the efficiency of this service and in bettering the facilities for the care and evacuation of the wounded of our armies.
