The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel Harry Lee (MCSN: 0-545), United States Marine Corps, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Having taken command of the 6th Regiment, United States Marine Corps, 2d Division, prior to the attack on the Bois de Belleau and Bouresches, Colonel Lee directed the operations of his regiment with remarkable success during all the major operations in which it participated. His ability as a tactical leader and his untiring energy were reflected in the brilliant achievements of his command.
