The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Air Service) George F. Fisher, United States Army Air Service, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 49th Aero Squadron, 2d Pursuit Group, U.S. Army Air Service, A.E.F., in the vicinity of Xonville, France, 16 September 1918. While flying alone Captain Fisher encountered two enemy biplanes which were attempting to cross our lines. He attacked them and shot down one of them. He then pursued the other, forcing it to go down out of control about 10 kilometers within enemy lines.
