The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Lieutenant [then Marechal des Logis] George Dormoy, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 8th Regiment, Mounted Chasseurs, Army of France, near St. Mihiel, France, 12 September 1918. Lieutenant Dormoy demonstrated marked courage in leading his platoon in an attack on a strong center of resistance. Running ahead of his men, he was the first to enter the enemy trench, where he captured more than 60 prisoners.
