The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Warrant Officer Francois Brelier, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 153d Regiment (Infantry), Army of France, near Kemmel, Belgium, 26 April 1918. Attacking the strongly fortified position on Mount Kemmel, Adjutant Brelier, although wounded, continued to struggle until his position had been established, On no less than eight occasions he led patrols into enemy lines, and each time inspired those under his command by his bravery and intrepidity.
