The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Brigadier Albert Baurin, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 350th Tank Company, Tank Corps, near Gesnes, France, 4 October 1918. During the course of an engagement in which the French tanks assisted the American infantry to attack a difficult position, the tank in which Brigadier Baurin was advancing was put out of action and his companion wounded by heavy artillery fire. He continued to assist his comrade in firing until the ammunition was completely exhausted, and then dismounted from the tank and he carried the wounded man to the American line through the intense enemy fire.
