While serving with Company L, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Wilcox displayed exceptional heroism in action near Jaulgonne, France, on 23 July 1918, when, under heavy shell fire, he reorganized scattered groups and exposed himself to enemy fire in caring for the wounded.     The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Glenn E. Wilcox, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Jaulgonne, France, 23 July 1918. When his company had reached its objective and was suffering heavy casualties from shell fire, Lieutenant Wilcox rendered valuable assistance in reorganizing the company and caring for the wounded. He remained on duty even though suffering from severe mustard gas burns.
