No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Frank Walsh (ASN: 2214224), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company C, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Walsh continued to operate an automatic rifle all night near Mont St. Pere on 22 July 1918, under sniper and machine gun fire after being severely wounded. [A Distinguished Service Cross was awarded for this action.]

After being severely wounded Private Walsh continued to operate his automatic rifle throughout the night.
