The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Clarence Lonnie Turley (ASN: 2258561), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 128th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Juvigny, north of Soissons, France, 30 August 1918. In attack by his company Corporal Turley gave proof of unusual gallantry and courage by fearlessly going out under heavy machine-gun and artillery fire to give aid and carry back the wounded. He was himself seriously wounded while engaged in this work.
