The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Raymond F. St. George, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-Warville, France, 2 October 1918. In the performance of his duties as scout, Private St. George displayed unusual courage in locating and charging machine-gun nests. After being mortally wounded, he insisted that those who stopped to aid him continue their advance to capture nests.
