Shoener (ASN: 1551350), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Battery F, 76th Field Artillery, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Chateau-Thierry, France, July 14 – 15, 1918. Leaving his own work, Cook Shoener went to the assistance of the wounded remaining in the field throughout the entire night giving first aid and carrying wounded comrades to places of safety.
