    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to First Sergeant Edward Willis Scott (ASN: 1211820), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. First Sergeant Scott assumed command of his company after all the officers has become casualties, though he himself had been shot through the arm, and led it into effective combat. After being wounded a second time he refused to go to the rear, but continued to advance until he was killed.
