Schroedel (ASN: 2159955), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. During operations in the region of Bellicourt, Private Schroedel, unassisted, attacked an enemy stronghold and captured two machine-guns and five prisoners.
