    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal George William Sartain (ASN: 547762), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Jaulgonne, France, 26 July 1918. Corporal Sartain gave aid to three wounded comrades during a heavy bombardment and after four unsuccessful attempts, finally succeeded in carrying them to a dressing station.
