The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant George Rowe (ASN: 1211444), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. Although seriously wounded, Sergeant Rowe continued to lead his platoon in operations against the Hindenburg line, refusing to be evacuated, until ordered to the rear by his commanding officer.
