The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Harry Rosen (ASN: 43851), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Fleville, France, 4 October 1918. After all officers of his company had been killed or wounded, Sergeant Rosen took command and reorganized the company under fire. He then led a patrol of six men through heavy fire in an attack on an enemy machine-gun nest. With the assistance of other members of his patrol he forced 18 of the enemy to surrender.
